DELF examinations

The Alliance Française de Bloemfontein is the only institution in the Free State accredited by the CIEP (Centre international d’études pédagogiques) of France and is supported by the French Embassy in Pretoria. DELF (Diplôme d’Études en Langue Française) and DALF (Diplôme Approfondi de Langue Française) are official qualifications issued by the French Ministry of Education to certify French language proficiency of non-native speakers. DELF – DALF is required by French Universities. The DELF/DALF diplomas are valid for life and are recognised world-wide.

International Recognition:

  • DELF / DALF Diplomas are awarded by the French Ministry of Education and accepted worldwide.
  • The same exams are written worldwide and conducted at accredited official examination centres.
  • The Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) form the basis for the DELF / DALF structure. This is an international reference in the organisation of language teaching and certification.
  • If you have passed the DALF (C1-C2) exams, you are exempted from language entrance examinations in French universities.
  • If you have passed the DELF / DALF diplomas, you earn extra points for immigration to countries such as Canada and Belgium.
  • With a DELF / DALF diploma your chances of employment increase.
